Imagine Alloa: Arts and Culture

See our Events Diary for art workshops taking place in The Make Room, Drysdale Street, Alloa
Imagine Alloa aims to develop Alloa as a national hub of creativity, by profiling partnerships between local people, business, artists, and designers. The intention is to create over a short time span, strong examples of art work and artists interventions with residents and local business, in a way that will fuel ongoing opportunities.
As part of the proposals, opportunities for artists and organisations now exist through a programme of cultural-led regeneration focussing on Alloa. The overall theme of Imagine Alloa is the Heritage of Clackmannanshire.
We encourage research in this field to include the glass, textile, ceramic and silver industries. Imagine Alloa should support trade and tourism, giving contemporary life to creative industries of the past. This theme does not apply to one off events, changing exhibitions or other street arts programmes.
Imagine Alloa is already having an impact in the artistic community. One of the artists involved in the project, Maureen Michael, is to present a paper on her work to academics. Maureen uses drawings to illustrate complicated relationships between people and their surroundings. She's using drawings she created for the Imagine Alloa funding bid in her presentation to the International Visual Research Methods Conference in Leeds this month.
