Council & Government

Clackmannanshire Council is one of 32 Scottish unitary local authorities, serving a community of over 48,000 citizens in central Scotland. We share our borders with our neighbours in Stirling, Falkirk, Fife and Perth & Kinross.
The Council has 18 Councillors whose political make up is 8 Labour, 7 SNP, 1 Conservative, 1 independent and 1 Scottish Liberal Democrat.
The Council's four services are:
- Chief Executive's Services
Responsible for overall policy direction and co-ordination in the Council. Within the new structure, its remit covers economic development, corporate policy, emergency planning, and administration and legal services. - Corporate Development Services
The Corporate Development core remit is the strategic matching of financial and human resources to Council policy priorities developed in an ethos of performance management and achievement of Best Value. - Development and Environmental Services
Brings together most of the Councils regulatory, property and contract services including amongst others, Planning, Environmental Health, Building Control, Roads, Property Maintenance and Waste Management. - Services to People
Includes all of the services in the areas of education and lifelong learning, housing, social services both adult and childcare, criminal justice and the social work service for Glenochil Prison.
