Best Value
The aim of Best Value is to ensure that, through effective management, the Council delivers better and more responsive public services. This means that we need to:
- balance the quality of services with cost;
- achieve sustainable development;
- be accountable and transparent, by engaging with the local community;
- ensure equal opportunities;
- continuously improve the outcomes of the services we provide.
In September 2007, Audit Scotland (on behalf of the Accounts Commission) published a report on the Audit of Best Value and Community Planning in Clackmannanshire Council.
In January 2008, Clackmannanshire Council approved the Public Service Improvement Framework as the council's main test of Best Value. At that time, our previous rolling programme of Best Value Reviews ceased. Best Value Reviews do, however, remain an improvement option open to services.
The links below will take you to the Best Value Reviews carried out to date, and guidance documentation. In 2004, the council changed the process for carrying out Best Value Reviews, thus the reviews are separated by whether they were completed before or after this change.
Best Value Progress Reports are presented to the Scrutiny Committee at regular intervals throughout the year, the latest of which can be viewed at the following links:
