The money isn't paid to you, it's a one-off discount on your electricity bill, usually between October and March.
You can also qualify for the discount if you use a pre-pay or pay as you go electricity meters.
Your electricity supplier can tell you how you'll get the discount if you're eligible. For example, a voucher you can use to top up your meter.

If you are in receipt of any of the following income related benefits and have a child under 5 years of age you qualify for the Warm Home Discount.
If your annual household income is less than £16,190 you may also qualify, depending on your electricity supplier, if you fall into one of the following categories.
Some suppliers can offer the discount to vulnerable people, for example those on a low income.
Each supplier has their own rules about who else (known as the 'broader group') can get this help.
Check with our Home Energy Advice Team or your supplier to determine if you meet their rules for broader group help and how to apply for it.

If you qualify for the discount, you will normallyl get a letter from your supplier telling you one of the following:
Letters are sent between September 2015 and January 2016.
Lines are open from 8am - 6pm, Monday to Friday.
Late claims won't be accepted.
Applications for the broader group can close earlier so it is best to contact our Home Energy Advice Team or your supplier as early as possible to make sure you obtain the Warm Home Discount before funding for the broader group runs out.
You should contact the Home Energy Advice Team if you got confirmation you'd get a rebate in 2015 to 2016 but haven't received it yet.
If you don't qualify for the discount our Home Energy Advice officers may still be able to assist you by finding a supplier who would be willing to include you in their scheme.
