Volunteers are wanted to help drive forward cycling in Clackmannanshire through the Cycling Scotlandinitiative, Bikeability.

This programme delivers both playground based activities and on-road cycling experience to primary school pupils enabling them to gain confidence and competence to use their bikes to and from school and in their local communities.

Course information

Cycle Training Assistants help deliver Bikeability Scotland training levels 1 and 2 to school aged pupils. Normally as a Cycle Training Assistant you will work under the supervision of a Cycle Trainer or local authority coordinator while you gain experience.

By completing the course you can go on to plan and deliver cycle training sessions using our Bikeability Scotland resources.

What skills do I need?

To become a Cycle Training Assistant you should ideally be a competent cyclist and must be a minimum of 16 years old or 18 where working independently.

How long does it take?

This is a 1 day course (8 hrs) and can be delivered as a full day, twilight sessions or over 2 half days.

What will I need?

You will need a road worthy bicycle, clothing appropriate for the weather and a helmet.

How much will it cost?

Cycle Training Assistant courses are usually available free of charge if you are committed to delivering Bikeability Scotland to school pupils.
