Law & Licensing
Administration and Legal staff provide a legal service to the Council and all of its services. They also manage the functions of the registrars service. The registrars service deals with births, deaths, marriages, and civil partnerships and is increasingly involved in family history searches and ceremonies relating to citizenship, commitment, and child naming.
This Service is also responsible for licensing many activities. Information about the licences, permits and approvals required can be found on our Licensing page (Licences by category) under the headings of Alcohol, Animals, Business, Entertainment, Environmental and Public Occasions
The Council's Data Protection Officer, Monitoring Officer, and lead Freedom of Information Officer are all located within the Service.
